CBC Keck Center for Nano-Scale Imaging

Overview of Services

RRID:SCR_022884

The Keck Center for Nano-Scale Imaging is an interdisciplinary research facility and a joint effort between the UArizona Chemistry & Biochemistry and Physics departments which fosters student training and research collaborations. The Keck Center specializes in measuring surface topography, surface properties, electrical measurements, fluorescence, sub-monolayer visible spectroscopy, infarred spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The Center is administered by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Research Support Services (RSS) and is open to all UArizona research groups and external customers.

The Keck imaging facility currently houses two scanning probe microscopes (SPM) (a Park Systems NX20, and an Asylum Cypher ES with environmental control), a fluorescene microscope (3i Spinning Disk Confocal with Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF)), and a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The SEM is equipped with a Thermo Noran System Six X-ray microanalysis system and a J.C. Nabity Nanometer Pattern Generation Sytem (NPGS). A custom built Potential Modulation Attenuated Total Reflectance spectrometer (PMATR) is available for spectroscopic, spectroelectrochemical, and potential modulated thin-film measurements. A Thermo Fisher Nicolet iS50R FT-IR Spectrometer for continuous and step-scan measurements. TA instruments Discovery TGA 5500 with autosampler and DSC 2500 for material thermal analysis.
