We are a full service histology laboratory offering fast turnaround and consistent, high quality, and reproducible results. The mission of the Comparative Pathology Core Laboratory (CPCL) is to support the research activities at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, other UA Colleges, and external academic or potential industrial partners.

OVERVIEW of SERVICES
Histology Services
- Paraffin wax processing and embedding of formalin fixed tissues and cells (FFPE)
- Thin-sectioning of paraffin blocks
- Cryo (frozen) sample preparation and sectioning
- Histochemical stains including hematoxylin & eosin (H&E), Giemsa, Nissl, Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS).
Whole Slide Scanning – brightfield and immunofluorescence
- Brightfield (10x, 20x, 40x, 60x)
- Immunofluorence (10x, 20x 40x)- for filters cube specifications see the “Whole Slide Scanning Request Form”.
Pathology Services
- Histopathology slide review and scoring
- Consultation on study designs
Immunohistochemistry
- Biomarker specific workup of staining protocols
- Single and multiplex immunohistochemistry
- Providing project specific quotes based on experimental plan.
Equipment use:
- Microtome and Cryostat are available for use. Scheduling is only possible per phone or email. It is required that first time users have to undergo an orientation and training to ensure compliance and safety.
