College of Medicine-Phoenix Research Cores

 

Overview of Services

The College of Medicine-Phoenix Research Cores is currently comprised of three distinct cores: Biomedical Imaging Core (BIC), Flow Cytometry Core (FCC) and Molecular Discovery Core (MDC).

 

The BIC provides the latest innovative imaging technologies along with advice on experimental design, training and analysis.

 

The FCC provides advanced cytometry, expert advice, project/panel design, training, data analysis, assay development/optimization, new marker characterization and collaboration.

 

The MDC provides specialized technology for molecular imaging, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for binding studies, kinetic data analysis, small molecule and/or fragment screening, and aggregation studies, as well as consultation on assay development and protein purification.

Our Mission

The overall mission of the Research Office is to support the research enterprise of the College of Medicine–Phoenix, stimulating all types of research and growing the sponsored projects portfolio by providing all forms of research infrastructure and resources. Our Research Cores are a direct reflection of that mission in as much as they provide centralized access to specialized, state-of-the art and high end instrumentation, with expert scientific leadership for experimental design, training and analysis to meet the needs of the research community.

Hours of Operation and Location

FCC  – Hours of Operation: 24 hours access for self usage. Assisted usage-7:45am-4:00pm. Access to FCC E535 loacted on 5th floor at the south side of building by card access only. Initial training required for each instrument and will be assessed on an individual basis. Please contact Dr. Kala for more information on training, experiment designing, collaboration and access.

MDC – Hours of Operation: 8am-5pm, after hours by request only. Access to BSPB 5th floor laboratory doors at the west side of building by card access only. Initial training required for each instrument and will be assessed on an individual basis. Please contact Dr. Marlowe for more information.

BIC – Hours of Operation: 24-hour access to instrumentation provided granted badge access and completion of appropriate training with core director.  The lab is located on the first floor of the ABC1 Building on the COM-P Biomedical Campus. Individual training is available Monday thru Friday from 9:00a.m. to 5p.m. and is to be requested.  Please contact Dr. Gustin for further information.
